Purpose of study:

1. Develop the breadth and depth of students historical knowledge; teach students the story of the past.
2. Develop students understanding of the key concepts of history; causation, consequence, significance, source analysis and interpretations.
3. Develop students historical literacy; teach students how to justify and explain their ideas about the past.
4. Develop students understanding of the world today and current events; through the links to the past and examples from the past.
