Welcome to St Columba's!
St Columba's is celebrating a 10% increase in the number of our students achieving five or more GCSE A*-C grades including English and Maths. With 65% achieving this measure and 95% of our students achieving A*-C grades this is a further improvement on last year’s ‘best ever’ results. Mr Fisher, Headteacher, said “As a highly aspirational community it is wonderful to see that our exam success continues to improve. We pride ourselves on being a caring school and these results show that our traditional standards of caring for the individual coupled with high expectations, work in helping our students succeed.
As a high-achieving comprehensive boys school, we challenge every student to achieve his best ... every step of the way. By setting the highest expectations for learning and behaviour, our boys accomplish remarkable feats, reflected in the recent results.”
Notable successes were: Liam Carroll 14 passes, (11 at A*), Cahil De Menezes 14 passes (11 at A*/A), Conor Goodman 13 passes (11 at A*/A), Ryan Stewart 13 passes (10 at A*/A) and Alexandros Papakostas 13 passes (10 at A*/A).
Last year David Laws, Minister of State for Education, confirmed that St Columba’s was in the top 100 schools nationally for student progress and this year our results are even better. Recognising this, the Government have invested £1.3 million for a new Science suite.
We are an inclusive Catholic school and welcome students of all faiths or none and invite your son to join our thriving community.
